Introduction

Solina Centre for International Development and Research (SCIDaR) is an indigenous nonprofit institution that works to accelerate positive health, social and economic reforms through high-quality program design and implementation, capacity building, implementation of scientific research and knowledge generation, as well as agenda-setting and stakeholder convening across human development sectors. Our work seeks to benefit primarily disadvantaged and under-served populations. We implement transformation programs in Nigeria and are currently expanding our footprint to several West and Central African countries. Description and Objectives

The Driver will have the primary responsibility of transporting the staff of SCIDaR as required for the performance of their duties. He/she will work closely with the Admin Officer to ensure that vehicles are properly used and used in line with SCIDaR fleet policy. He/she will also follow up and ensure that routine preventative maintenance schedules for the vehicles are strictly adhered to in a manner that will assure reliable transportation of SCIDaR staff, assets and other goods.

Technical Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with Office Admin and make recommendations and implement measures that will safeguard the SCIDaR’s vehicles and vehicle equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce the possibility of theft or damage.
2. Ensure that all vehicle requests received are well attended to.
3. Coordinate with Admin and ensure that all journeys and trips (no matter how short) are recorded using the Vehicle Log Book provided in each vehicle.
4. Coordinate with Admin Officer to ensure the maintenance of a folder of Vehicle Log Books for audit purposes.
5. Responsible for ensuring that SCIDaR vehicles are cleaned at all times
6. Responsible for using all vehicle management tools like log sheets and vehicle checklists to monitor vehicle usage, behaviour and maintenance.
7. Ensure that all travel planning procedures are followed by staff traveling in SCIDaR vehicles and that all the relevant forms are completed

Required Competencies

Core Requirements

7. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to handle conflicts;

Education and Experience

1. Academic Qualification: Minimum of a National Diploma or its equivalent in Logistics, Business Administration or Humanities;
2. Professional Qualification: Possession of Trade Test Certificate I or II will be advantageous;
3. Experience: Minimum of 3 – 5 years of progressive experience in Driving and Logistics management
4. NGO/Donor’s Experience: The Ideal candidate must be familiar with Donors’ rules and regulations and must have worked with a reputable developmental organization.
